Descendant of Frederick "Fred" Ibendahl


On the death certificate for Heinrich Ibendahl, father
of Frederick, father of Wilma, the father's name is listed
as Fred. The parents of Friedrich (Fred) were Johann Friederich IVENDAHL/IBENTHAL, b. Sept. 6, 1816 in Mahlum.  On May 14, 1848 he married Catherina Elisabeth Kahlstorf, b. Oct. 27, 1821 in Jelmstorf.  He d. Apr. 14, 1890 in Jelmstorf.  She died June 7, 1910 in Jelmstorf.

m Catharine Dorothee (Doris) Buckendahl on Sept. 5, 1869 in Bevensen.  She was b. to Peter Heinrich and Katherine Margarethe Dorothea Mayer Buckendahl. Nov. 2, 1844 in Bornsen, d. 4 Nov 1900
Henry Ibendahl with his wife Dorothee Buckendahl Ibendahl
and five children, Fred, Dora, Anna, Lizzie and William came
to America from Hanover, Germany in 1885. They settled on
a farm in Washington County near Oakdale. Henry, Jr. was born
here.
Heinrich Ibendahl applied for citizenship in 1890 in Washington Co., IL. 
These 6 children planted their roots in our county by marrying
spouses from here, Namely: Fred married Anna Schroeder, Anna
married William Schwengels, Lizzie married Fred Middendorf,
William married Sophie Schmale, Henry Jr. married Kate Stroh,
and Dora married William Hellmeyer.
Fred Ibendahl born Nov. 28, 1869 in Hannover, came to Washington
Co. at 15 1/2 years of age, married Anna Schroeder, born Sept. 12,
1878, a daughter of Henry and Mary Ann Harland Schroeder, in 1898.
Anna died Dec. 20, 1943 and Fred died Dec. 21, 1949. Both are
buried in the Pilot Knob Cemetery.
To this union five children were born; Albert, Bertha, Theodore,
Hulda and Wilma.
